was born in Istanbul, but has lived in London since the 1970s. He has written seven collections of poetry and translated work by Ted Hughes and Philip Larkin into Turkish. Margulies writes poetic narratives that are often situated in the past. They always deal with such big themes as suppression, migration, alienation or death, but do so via the individual perception of small-scale occurrences.
